Business Credit Readiness Checklist
Use this checklist to prepare questions before you request a tradeline. No score, reporting outcome or funding approval is guaranteed.
Confirm business details
Check that the legal name, entity status, address and EIN are accurate and consistent across your records.
Review existing commercial reports
Check your business reports for existing accounts and errors. Keep business reports separate from your personal reports.
Understand the account
Ask what actual account or obligation is being reported, who furnishes it and which reporting channels receive it.
Clarify SBFE
SBFE is a commercial credit data exchange. Ask how the provider’s data appears through participating commercial reporting providers.
Read a sample report
Use the sample below to understand how information can appear. A sample is not a promise of your results.
Confirm cost and timing
Confirm package price, expected reporting window, duration and non-posting terms in writing.
Separate reporting from funding
A reported limit is not cash you can spend or a funding approval. Lenders review other business and owner information.
Assess funding readiness
If funding is your goal, start FMB’s readiness review before assuming a business tradeline is required.
